"Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your hearth or burn down your house, you can never tell." — Joan Crawford

__

Their love is a fire that is burning for 10 years, under the fireplace that they tended for that long. 10 years of keeping it aflame together, making sure one played a part of maintaining it, one collecting logs and chopping them and the other one was constantly putting the logs in the fireplace to make sure that the fire will not go out.

10 years of doing that same thing together, keeping the fire burning. There were many days when the fire burned so hot it almost scorched them as they basked in sweet surrender through the night. And there were days when they neglected it but still the fire remains burning. It wasn't a perfect fireplace, but it was special. It sheltered the fire that sustained them, through cold and stormy days.

10 years later, the fire started wavering, slightly flickering, almost dying. One is still tending to it but the other one wasn't sure if they still need to continue burning it. Collecting logs and chopping them has become tiresome, almost close to being troublesome. The flame wasn't as big as it used to be. The fire danced bleakly, almost waiting for itself to die. This is a much better read than those of others whose sole purpose in posting a blog was to have their ego fed.

Plus, I can really relate to this. It's like you've written it specifically for me. Lol

Hey, PoE! Nice to see you here.

It’s also nice to know that you can relate to this, and happy that you stumbled upon my blog before it became forgotten.

Whatever you’re going through, I hope you still have that will to keep the flame burning.

And then you realize you don't even need a glass of water to put out the ember. Just a softly spoken word "pagod na ako" is like a dash of water or a gust of wind, there's nothing more you can do to keep the embers glowing.

And after all is said and done, when you are alone, musing, a thought will pass by and you might think “Is there a chance for me to reignite the ember?”

Of course you can, provided it is within a specific time, while there’s a few more heat inside it.

Or take the easy way but a tedious one - get a new firewood.
