Ngunit ang gusto kong talakayin ay hindi ang new year kundi ang light year and speed of light.

In 1838, isang German astronomer na si Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel who was the first to use the term "light-year" as a unit of measurement in astronomy.

Ano nga ba ang light year?

A light-year, alternatively spelt lightyear, is a unit of length used to express astronomical distances and is equivalent to about 9.46 trillion kilometers or 5.88 trillion miles. [Wiki]

Mahirap sukatin dahil napakalalayo ng bawat solar system at galaxies mula sa Earth kaya naisip ni Bessel ang sistema ng "light year" to make it easier to identify the distance.

Malinaw ba?

Yan ang speed of light. Sa loob ng isang taon ay kayang maglakbay ng liwanag sa layo na 9 trillion kilometers or one light year. Ang hirap isipin ng distansya na yan.

Again, light year is about measuring the distance gamit ang speed of light.

Hhmmm, Interesting. In six months time ay may posibilidad na masagot ang tanong mo, or nating lahat. If anything goes wrong. Dahil wala pang space manned vehicles na pwedeng maka rating doon, to fix it like what they did to Hubble telescope. If anything goes well. As you know ay libo ng planeta ang nadi discover nila. The scientists call the James Webb telescope a time machine. Kasi ang mga lights na nag beam millions or billions years ago, ay ngayon lang makikita. Like what you said about lightyears.

The JWST was originally part of the blog but I decided to cut it kasi masyadong hahaba at baka maging overwhelming na. I'm thinking of making a blog about it if given the chance.

Thanks!
